While I've known Donna for a long time , I had not availed myself of her services until at the ripe old age of 67 I developed a fullblown autoimmune disorder called pustular psoriasis- just as nasty as it sounds. I went to 4 different doctors for diagnosis and treatment. Months into the initial outbreak I was diagnosed correctly but was still broken out badly on my hands and feet. I went to 2 different dermatologists , one being the premier expert and researcher in the field of psoriasis that actually told me there was no known cure or successful treatment for my particular form of the disorder. The other dermatologist prescribed Stelara , a biologic that I took for a year with absolutely no results [ it also is ridiculously expensive, a quarterly shot was $1600.00 and I had to go on a program to have it paid ]. Needless to say I was demoralized and having to wear gloves at work to cover my hands- the feet were also miserable and blistered. When I mentioned all this to Donna , she told me that while the western medical approach had a limited "toolkit" for dealing with my problem there was much she could do to help. That is an understatement. Under her guidance and advice I did the LEAP MRT testing and was more than a little surprised at the report findings- my own personalized booklet indicated a host of foods/substances that I am reactive to and in what degrees of sensitivity. I was somewhat dismayed and overwhelmed at the array of tormentors to my system- everything from the not surprising gluten - beloved bread /pasta/sugar-to a shocking list [ at least to me] of VEGETABLES. A few other sundry additives , soy, spices, proteins such as beef and TURKEY , some shellfish finished off my personal hit list. After sulking a bit and at Donna's tutelage I began the suggested program for the initial detox- food diary included. Since I figured gluten especially was bad I cut it out completely and was rewarded with a 15 lb weight loss that just happened as I tried to eat whatever I deemed most imperative. But as I was having a mental hard time wrapping my head around vegetables that were verboten and though I was significantly improved, I was still broken out on hands/feet. During a phone appointment going over the food diary of the moment, she pointedly asked me about my beloved broccoli that had crept in along with a couple of other veggie culprits. I woefully copped to the inclusions and vowed to do as directed. Suffice it to say that as I cleaned those out I began to clear and when I went back to dermatologist #1 for a checkup since he had indicated he might use me as a case study- I was too much in remission to be of any use in his study. And he said that I was living proof that what we eat is our own medicine or poison and I was sent happily on my way. This was a period of approximately 3 months from inception of my complete adherence to the diet although about 6 months from my beginning with Donna.
Since I am not a major cook, the hardest part for me was finding clean takeout but as the last couple of years have progressed there have been welcome additions in eateries catering to clean food. I also cook a little more and am finding it not nearly so daunting to achieve balance. The best thing is the knowledge and understanding of my personal chemistry and how to manage it. There's an old saying that goes-" Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day- teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". I guess Donna taught me how to fish. And I thank her for it every day.

I had GERD,gastritis,IBS, stage 2 kidney disease, mild adrenal fatigue, was on disability and could barely function throughout the day. Went to over 10 practitioners and I will say Donna was the only doctor that I really trusted. She had my best interest in mind and was there via email and was very responsive in between our sessions to help guide me throughout the process of helping me heal and recover from myriad of symptoms I was experiencing. She listened openly and came from a place of understanding but was also strong in her coaching abilities and direction to assist in bringing me back into wellness.

She reviewed the gamut of testing from other practitioners and utilized what we already knew to assist in developing a case plan to regain health .Following the functional medicine approach and micronutrients as well as organic acids testing I repleted many nutrient deficiencies that could only be discovered with specialized testing and felt such a difference!! Most importantly I regained my energy, mood, and MYSELF to live again and that I am forever grateful for.

    Thank you EWW!!!

I was having some stomach issues and sleeping problems during my recent stay in Boulder. A close friend recommended coming in for an acupuncture session. The East West Wellness center is absolutely beautiful. I loved the infrared sauna and the crystal embedded heating pad in the treatment room. The acupuncture session was virtually painless and extremely comforting. I definitely started sleeping better after the session and my stomach issues began lessening. Donna is super nice and really knows her material from the western scientific perspective and from the traditional eastern view. I'm excited to come back for another session in the future! I'd recommend checking out the awesome massage oil candles as well. Thank You East West Wellness!
