Hiking this trail was the highlight of our Colorado vacation. It was chilly in early October--34° when we started--but so worth it! All 3 lakes were gorgeous, but if you're not an avid hiker, have issues with the altitude, or if your body starts to tire, don't push yourself too far to go on to Murray lake. We were determined to get to the top, but weren't as impressed by it once we got there. The views looking back over Silver Dollar Lake and Naylor lake though? Breathtaking. Here are a few pictures!
Beautiful and peaceful Trail in the winter. We went snowshoeing 12/30/2018, on the side of the trail about 2.5ft of snow. The lake turned into ice lake now. Cold and windy but great experience!
Will be back in the summer!
Absolutely loved this trail! We didn't have a vehicle that could get us all the way to the trailhead (it looked a little sketch for cars that aren't 4wd with a decent amount of clearance), so we walked the additional 1.75 miles to get to the trailhead. Total round trip for us wound up being around 11 miles or so (which was a nice workout!) Got lucky, too! The fall colors were just starting so the speckles of yellow were unbelievably beautiful! Very safe trail only a couple of spots where you'd need to make sure your footing is on point. The lakes are worth it, too! Unbelievably stunning. Just bring bug spray!! There are some kinda blood sucking flies out there and we learned that the hard way haha. Enjoyed the hike!
We just snowshoed to the first lake. You have to park right off of Guanella Pass Rd and hike to the trailhead first--so getting to the first lake was a good workout! Beautiful and not too many people. Can't wait to do it in summer!!
This is a great hiking trail near Georgetown, CO. You can park by the road or drive up the rugged road to the trailhead.
