(August 28, 2019, 1:03 pm)Beautiful! Stunning scenery. Echo Lake Lodge has an excellent gift shop and restaurant. In the summer months expand your horizons by driving North America's highest paved road to the top of Mt. Evans. The view from 14,270' is spectacular.

(August 27, 2019, 12:42 pm)Great hike! It definitely gets hard in some areas but it absolutely worth it. I encourage everyone to keep going till the top and appreciate the outstanding views. Arrive early to avoid crowds.
Saw a couple of deers running away from us, it was beautiful! Wildflowers, lakes, wildlife and clear skies, this trail has a little bit of everything! -

(August 22, 2019, 10:42 am)It was very pretty, natural and a cool picnic area. It’s a nice walk around the lake. I would definitely recommend stopping by the echo lake lodge, these are wonderful and warm hearted people. Got in trouble on the top of the mountain and they took care of us and brought my group down there. Plus they have good food and great souvenirs !

(August 20, 2019, 10:54 am)Echo Lake is the oldest lake known in Colorado! Date of 18,000 years came from a piece of charcoal at the bottom of a drill core which was made to analyze pollen layers in the sediments. It formed when the glacier that carved Chicago Creek dammed the side valley with a lateral moraine. Wouldn't it have been great if we could have sampled DNA from organisms in the lake? But we can't because John Evans who owned it introduced cutthroat trout to entertain his fishing buddies, and they decimated the ancient population.

(August 7, 2019, 12:37 pm)Great Lake! But... the bathroom is a little scary to use because there is no door!? You could be walked in on by another person or a animal very easily. If possible, hold it.
There is a wide variety of ducks and other birds to look at! There are some gray birds that are very friendly, but will steal your chips if you don’t keep an eye on them.
They have lots of grills, but there is a “no cooking with fire” sign. Confusing.
I enjoy listening to the sounds of nature, but there are lots of motorcycles that ride past the lake and make louder noises than the nature. >:(
There are some very good hikes in the area with great views! Some areas you need to take slow and be safe!
The gift shop at the other end of the lake is very fun and has a COOL mountain goat penny press. Not too expensive!
