When I had my two Westies, either my mom or I would walk the boys in the cemetery. Such history ! When you see markers for numerous children from the same family, it makes me thankful for modern medicine.
It’s so beautiful and peaceful and the grounds are beautiful. Imagine my suprise when the dogs were sleeping in the sun and I looked up to see a young doe !
My mother in law told me that it used to be the end of the streetcar route.
A beautiful and restful cemetery that any student of history should visit. There are many elegantly carved headstones in this large cemetery. The trees and animals that can be seen in the area make it a very natural place of repose.
It's easy to see that those buried here are well taken care of by the staff of Fairmount and that even the oldest tombs are protected with love.
This is one of the most peaceful places in Denver, filled with beautiful statuary, heritage roses and the largest variety of trees around. It’s always worth your time!
Fairmount Cemetery is a beautiful cemetery full of history and love for those past gone. In the front half of the cemetery (facing Alameda Avenue), there are souls who were laid to rest starting in the 1800s. The gravestones are made of beautiful statues, mausoleums and pieces of heartfelt art to complete their forever resting spot. Moreover, Fairmount is still an active cemetery and even the newer graves are beautiful to see and visit.
Fairmount has several lush trees, bushes and flowers surrounding it and throughout giving it a feel as if you are walking through nature or a beautiful park. I have often seen joggers going for a daily run through the cemetery because of this. Even I myself regularly walk through it. This cemetery has a peaceful feel to it and it is well maintained.
The employees can be seen driving around in their golf carts staying busy to maintain the cemetery. They are also very nice and will answer all the questions you may have about the cemetery. Although I have not interacted with them much they seem friendly, caring and busy doing their jobs. They even keep an eye on people like the joggers and I to make sure the security of the cemetery maintained as well. Lol
None of my family members are currently burried here but I thought if we were ever able to afford it, this would definitely be the place I would chose for mine and my family's forever spot. It even has a big beautifully detailed gate surrounding it that is locked at dusk to keep it safe. If you are thinking about getting yourself or a loved one burried here, I would say you are choosing the best spot in Denver to do so. It meets every expectation a forever spot needs in my opinion.
