“They didn't have the truck i booked, but hooked me up with a much bigger nicer SUV, so at the end it all worked out. People working there were friendly and it looked like they process a lot of volume, so be patient.”

Budget

Address: 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249, USA

“While the Thanksgiving Day rental was no bargain, Budget did have a vehicle similar to what I'd reserved at 6PM. The agent I dealt with was friendly and efficient. The return was effortless. The Denver airport agency requires some shuttle shuffling and patience dealing with that aspect, but all in all Budget gets it done.”

Grill and Vine

Address: Denver, CO 80249, USA

Restaurant

“The Good: They'll fix you a tasty cocktail and, despite what some others here have said, not every wine they carry is mediocre; there're some good ones on their list. Some others leaving reviews have had bad meals here, but I haven't. They roast their vegetables perfectly, and I've had some delicious main dishes. What really makes this place worth visiting are the views and the location, right above the train line at DIA, though you'll get better views one level up in the hotel lobby (which also has a bar). I like coming here when I travel but, being a Denverite, I admit I've taken the train out to the Westin simply to work for the day. As a writer, a change of view is nice sometimes. The Bad: FFS, the prices! Yes, it's an airport hotel catering to corporate drones with seemingly unlimited per diems, but good God. $18 for a run-of-the-mill Tito's martini?! That should cost more like $11. A tiny jar of fries will set you back $6, and the burgers are definitely overpriced. The wines, while they can be good, are all very much overpriced. Some of these bottles, calculated by price per glass, could be had for 30% of Grill and Vine's prices. Grill and Vine charges $8 for beers which can be had for less than $2.50 a bottle at home. Every restaurant marks up its alcohol at least 100% above liquor-store retail prices, but this is beyond sane. The Ugly: The staff are trained... but not well. For a place with excellent fixtures, decent food, and high-end positioning, the staff are no better than you might find at an average low-priced chain. Think Chili's. Think Red Robin. I've never had a waiter, host, or bartender act rudely to me here, but they haven't overly impressed me either. They're all nice, and they're all trying hard, but this isn't The Kitchen or Urban Farmer. A better-trained staff would seriously elevate the experience, but I doubt that's forthcoming.”

Aviator's Sports Bar & Bar-B-Que

Address: 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249, USA

Restaurant

“Great service and good food options, though get ready for overpriced airport beers. Also, a sink to wash hands out in the open is a great idea, before/during/after the meal. Over a dozen TVs showing a variety of sports will help you pass the time, and food is prepared and delivered quickly. Staff was helpful and friendly the entire time. Salmon option is great, a little pricey but not overly so. Brisket is moist and has a good flavor, but sandwich came with a very soggy bottom that immediately fell apart. Steak fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Just barely overcooked. Beer options are pretty diverse, with drafts/bottles/cans. But $7 for a Coors is asking a bit much, definitely airport prices. $8.50 drafts are more palatable, only being $1-2 dollars more than I would expect to pay at a restaurant. Overall great place with just a few minor issues.”

Smashburger

Address: DIA, Concourse C, 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249, USA

Restaurant

“We had a nice window table. The salad (wife) and burger & tots (me) were better than I expected. Also, the local beer (not Coors) was very good. Airport prices as expected but not too worried abut that. Liked being back at the end of the gates so it was less crowded with less stress. Would recommend and will be back.”

“They have a great wine list. The food is also good, with plenty of salads, steaks, burgers. It's not an extensive list, but just right for a traveler. The waiters are friendly. This is my stopping place when I fly - so I'm here and average of once a week. Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a seat.”

Pour La France!

Woody Creek Bakery & Café

“After having the worst experience in the Houston Texas airport I had another layover in Colorado. I came here and the ladies were so great. They gave my kids complimentary cookies, offered to charge up my devices, filled my water bottles all without me asking. They gave my kids colouring sheets and crayons. Honestly it was so nice after a 2am wakeup, 3 airports and 2 planes. I felt like I was being taken care of there! If I ever have a layover in the Denver airport again I'm hanging out at this place. Also great food, comfortable seating and amazing service.”

City Wok

Address: 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249, USA

Restaurant

“The food was great and the service was quick, but the best part is that I have celiac disease, and the staff was nice enough to make me a meal from scratch to ensure that it was Gluten-free. Edit: I should probably mention I got the Buddha bowl. I really liked it! A lot of veggies, good sauce, the tofu was pretty good, and I'm not even the biggest fan of tofu. It was very filling. There was a ton of rice, more than I would put if I was trying to replicate this at home, but hey, it was my choice to eat all of it.”

MAC Cosmetics

Address: 8900 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249, USA

Store

“I had been stranded overnight in Denver with no luggage, no makeup, no cleanser, nothing. And I was heading to a meeting as soon as I got off my plane at my destination. Thankfully I got to the airport early the next morning and saw the M.A.C. store open. The gal in there cleaned me up, gave me a makeover and sent me off for my meeting looking 10 years younger and as if I had actually slept. A lifesaver! Wish I had gotten her name. She was really a talented makeup artist.”
