(March 28, 2018, 6:15 pm)This is one my favorite trail heads in Denver for a couple of different reasons: it's always quiet (never more than a small handful of cars in the parking lot), it's a different atmosphere than most Denver hikes (prairie compared to pine trees), and it connects up to Roxborough State Park free of charge (if you're okay with at least an 8-mile round trip hike). The views of the prairie and downtown are spectacular, and the wildflower bloom here in the spring is a sight to see. Come in April or May for the best greenery and weather. It can be windy, so pack a light jacket.
