Indian Creek Campground

An alternative start to the Colorado Trail, Indian Creek Trailhead is a great hiking spot in proximity to the front range. Be mindful of the fee for the area, its $6 and you pay with cash at a self-pay station. No credit cards accepted.

After about 1 mile of easy hiking you encounter trail junctions where you have options. Going straight will take you to Lenny's Rest in about 5 miles, which is the junction with the Colorado Trail. Left will take you to some small campsites and right will give you 3 trail options, one of which leads back to the trailhead and the other 2 offer 5 and 11 mile loops. Overall a great place to get to early in the day without having to get up early and drive. Plus, the trails are long enough that you can spend a whole day hiking. Plus, Fido(s) are welcome on this trail, which is a must if you are planning to meet up with the Colorado Trail.

I can't say much about camping there - I never have and don't plan to. There is toilet vaults and water refill stations at the trailhead so there are accommodations for longer stays.

Beautiful spot, worth the detour off of the main roads. We stayed here with our 14 month old for one night in mid July. It was clean, wonderful camp host who was friendly. Good water from spigots, where we filled up for the rest of the trip. Bear warnings were posted in the vault toilet areas, which were cleaned and stocked.

great trail system that offers some very rough and technical riding and hiking. I seldom run into other people even on weekends so it's a nice place to go and escape the city

Camp host Jerry was friendly & helpful. Other campers seem to behave being mostly quiet. Water-dumpster-vaulted toilets and clean. Day use hiking-biking-horse back riding trails. Parking limited in campsites. 2018 fees $22 per night & $7 per additional vehicles. Access passes honored.
