No facility is perfect -- especially in these trying times -- but Morningstar's executive director, Terry, is a truly kind and caring man. When my father developed COVID, Terry immediately implemented a compassionate care exception to the standard isolation protocol so my mother and I were able to visit him regularly. Terry showed genuine personal concern for us throughout the difficult experience of my father's dying, and in the immediate aftermath. The institution works generally well with Bristol Hospice and Brookdale Home Health Care, which attended my father. They also made a fuss over what turned out to be his last birthday, with his favorite German chocolate cake and a movie, and I know my father enjoyed some of the activities and entertainment routinely provided, including music and a visit (with some critters) from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. And Gary, in charge of maintenance, was always there to help with practical matters large and small, from move in to move out.
"Happy" is a relative concept for people who wind up in these residences, but my father was certainly happier here, and more engaged, than at a previous, larger facility, and Morningstar was a much more aesthetically pleasing place to visit. It's a good choice for people who can no longer care for loved ones due to progressive mental and physical decline.
I have to say I cannot be more pleased with the care my husband is getting at MorningStar Bear Creek. Shortly after moving to Colorado to be closer to our children, my husband's Lewy Body dementia deteriorated to the point where he needed full-time care. At MorningStar Bear Creek he is getting excellent care from all the medical support staff - nurses, caregivers, aides, etc. - and also from the concierge and other non-medical staff. It's so good to see the Director often helping and communicating with the residents. The food is delicious, and the chef and food staff are aware of the individual needs and likes of residents. My husband needs some extra portions, and they are right on top of it. There are many special activities, and the staff encourage residents to participate in their favorites - singing, dancing, painting, games, movies, etc. All the staff members seem to know the names of the residents and their family members. The family members can sit or stroll the paths and gardens around the perimeter of the building with their loved ones, and can also visit in the two patios in the interior. Additionally, they keep me apprised of any changes or any needs that arise. Moving my husband into a full-time care facility was a difficult and emotional decision. The atmosphere and people at MorningStar Bear Creek helped make the process gentler and ease a lot of the stress - Diane A.

Morningstar at Bear Creek has been a godsend for our family in providing knowledgeable, professional, kind and loving care for over a year for our father. The staff is highly trained in caring for individuals with memory issues and dementia as well as actively supporting our family and friends. The environment is beautiful, homey and very comfortable. We could not be happier with our experience and our father has thrived in this loving and respectful environment. We highly recommend this facility and its outstanding staff.
