I started snowboarding during the 2018-2019 season with a group lesson at Loveland. It was a full day lesson and at most got me on the board and moving downhill. I went snowboarding afterwards about 7 times that season, but i never felt stable or in control. The following summer, i found this Ski Maxx. I went there for a preliminary lesson and immediately felt like i was in good hands.

I signed up for the 3 pack package. Over the next few weeks i was able to work with Susie over those lessons and built my sense of balance and control on a snowboard. I attribute this to her amazing coaching and the attributes of an indoor format. Those being that the ‘variable’ elements outside of my control while snowboarding were now fixed. Attributes such as speed, angle, and terrain type. With those being fixed i was able to use Susie’s coaching and venue to understand how my movements affected the board.

My first day on the mountain of the 2019-2020 season went surprisingly well! It took about a half for me to apply my learning to actual snowboarding, and from there i have gone snowboarding about 6 times during this season. During that time i have been able to go from being comfortable on green runs to sending it on black runs.

I am very happy with my investment in learning at Ski maxx, and honestly, after spending my first year trying to learn myself, i cannot recommend coming here to work with Susie. She is amazing at explaining the techniques needed to enjoy snowboarding. I 100% recommended anyone, new or experienced to come here and work with her to further their skills.

The price of one group lesson at loveland was the same as the cost of 3 lessons here. I can vouch that this this the most cost effective method of training for building the base needed to enjoy snowboarding.

Amazing experience here with my 3 and 5 year old! Purchasing the package so they can be ready for the slopes 🏂

My disabled son loves snowboarding but it has been difficult teaching him how to do it safely and correctly. I am his Special Olympics coach and I have been teaching him to snowboard using a tether. I snowboard behind him and this allows him to compete in the Slalom and Giant Slalom Special Olympics Colorado events as well as train for the events.

We started taking him to Ski Maxx last year to work on his snowboarding skills. Susie and her assistants worked with him and quickly assessed his skill level and what he needed to work on. They developed a training regimen tailored to his specific needs and he quickly took to it. We saw an improvement in his skills the next time we were on the slopes and his confidence went way up. The best part is that not only is he improving his snowboarding skills, but he is having a lot of fun doing it. He loves going to snowboarding training at Ski Maxx and routinely asks to go on non-training days!

Ski Maxx is a safe, quiet and distraction-free environment which is a big plus for people with special needs. We feel comfortable and welcome at Ski Maxx and they are doing a great job helping our son be the best he can be.

Susie is incredible. My son and I did a few lessons two years ago at a local ski resort. Neither of us really picked up skiing and it became pricey to continue private lessons so we stopped. In September, a friend of mine told me about this new indoor ski facility. I thought it was interesting and decided to call to make an appointment to give it a try. Susie was able to get me in to do a lesson; this was in October 2016. After one lesson, I was sold. I signed up for the package of lessons. After my first set of lessons were over, I signed up my son, and I signed up for another set of lessons. My son and I continued with our lessons until Susie told us that we were now basically on maintenance mode (those are my words). We continue to go in and practice the techniques we were taught to build on them and to become more confident. Susie continues to offer tips to help us improve and how to handle the different conditions you will encounter on the mountain.

I just can not say enough how the indoor ski lessons have helped me and my son. I have been up to two different resorts quite a few times already, and my son a couple times. I did a lesson for my son since I was nervous trying the chair lift with him. The instructor was really impressed with me and my son and how we were skiinng. He told us that he never seen beginner skiers ski so well. I just smiled really big thinking this would not have been possible without Susie and her teaching. She also simulates a chair lift, which really helps when getting off of one. I now still go to Ski Maxx to keep my muscles in shape and learn things I share with Susie and expands more on them. I know I will continue to do the indoor skiing since it gets those skiing muscles in shape (as well as keeping me in shape for all my summer hikes). I encourage those thinking about skiing and the seasoned skier to give Ski Maxx a try - you will not regret it.
