Eye of the Heart

Eye of the Heart wildlife refuge is an absolutely wonderful wetlands habitat necessary for keeping all the drinking water downstream clean. After 10 years of clean up from originally being a mining claim with hundreds of junk cars and petroleum oil barrels it is now a pristine wilderness that supports many different animals. Moose, elk, black bear, mountain lion, and 100s of bird species….just to name a few. I’m proud to have been apart of it.

Truth 😉 I am from Atlanta. I have personally spent much time on this property and more than once. This majestic property provides a unique experience of privacy and serenity and sights of wildlife within one of the most breathtaking areas in the State of Colorado. The owner/proprietor of the Eye of the Heart meticulously nurtures the land and all animals, as if from “her own” eye of the heart. There is nothing but accolades for this proprietor and the Eye of the Heart 100%…anything else is just someone’s useless review fodder…it is fantastic! Count on it!

A mining dump deserves 5 stars and our photos show the pristine beauty with abundant clean water leaving the the refuge and teaming wildlife populations today! The property’s development rights were given to prestigious Colorado Open Lands in 2004. Therefore the land will be saved from
Development in perpetuity. Stephen Higgins’s family donated the easement and the historic only working panama canal steam shovel in the world to the Nederland Mining Museum on display and occasionally run for the public!! This refuge has been leased for a total of 99 yrs to the non profit : Eye of the Heart WR’ as per 501c3 regulations. We are private due to the fact we would be required to Change our zoning. We/our Board and I determined staying in the residential zoning best suited our needs. The properties beauty must be seen to be appreciated.

The owner has set the standard for what Good Samaritan mine clean up is. Take a look at the USFS AML maps online. The bipartisan infrastructure law is supposed to encourage cleanup and restoration of long abandoned mines. God bless you for being the one to show how that is done by example. As far as the bad review, remember, these are folks that need signs telling them not to swim in the Grand Prismatic. Everyone else notices and values all the effort put into making it EHWR. The EHWR is teaming with wildlife. It is not a zoo or a tourist spot. It is a refuge. For animals, plants, and the human spirit.
