I didn’t expect to walk away from our appointments thinking that the decision to take my son to Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine would be life changing, but it was! Dr. Sherwood & Dr. Sims tested my 14 year old son as he was having difficulty in school and I couldn’t seem to get any answers that fit what was going on with him. I was so frustrated and upset and my son was too. I decided to take matters into my own hands and found Dr. Sherwood at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Health. Both Dr. Sherwood and Dr Sims were thoughtful, easy to talk with, compassionate and empathetic. We were immediately comfortable with them and I had an overwhelming sense of confidence in them. A few weeks after testing we had an actual diagnosis that made sense. They gave us treatment options & ways to manage his care without medication! He started high school this year and thanks to their recommendations, given to me in a 15+ page report, I now have what I need to ensure that he is getting the help he needs at school and the teachers also understand the best ways to help him be successful. I have had no push back from the school and they have told me that the report is so complete that they have no doubt my son will be approved for an IEP. Per their recommendations my son has also been seeing a independent therapist weekly (we live a long way from their offices) and he has even voiced how it is great to have someone that he is comfortable talking to and how he is really glad that he understands why he has trouble with school. He is more motivated now than ever since he has been given the tools to be successful. We have a long way still to go but knowing what is going on with him was like lifting a huge weight! I can’t thank them enough for being so professional and thorough with their evaluation. I am not kidding when I say that the entire experience has been life changing in a positive way!
