If you love Rocky terrain with steep drop-offs, you will love this trail. Many great pictures along the way. It's also great for dogs they just have to be leashed. I always pack a picnic and make a day of it.
We did the clockwise loop returning on the Chavez trail. Nicely shaded and water to put your feet in and great for the dogs too.
5.2 Mile loop trail. When you pull off the highway be ready for a bumpy ride to the parking lot. It was a good mix or terrains, degrees of grades, and types of views. I would definitely say it is a moderate hike and many places had me out of breath. Some thin ledges along the trail so be careful with kids.
Great trail for dogs, it has a few natural waterways for them to drink from. Less traffic in the afternoons, and always check the weather beforehand. The trail is moderate.
One of my ALL TIME favorite trails within an hour of Denver. The trail is so diverse with hills and valleys, trees, rocks and rivers. The perfect hike for the pups and a pretty straight forward loop. There are a few forks, but if you are using a trail app it takes the pressure off about getting lost. Quite a large parking lot and facilities at the trail head. I would rate as Moderate and give yourself 2+ hours to complete the full loop
