Wish I had brought my bike, but still enjoyed the 4 mile walk I was able to manage. The trail is nice and wide, so even on a busy weekend you still have plenty of room to manuver around joggers and walkers alike
Easy trail, can make it as long as you want as this is also the Colorado Trail trailhead. Bring your camera and water! Big parking lot, easy terrain. Good for out of town friends and family that want a hike with lots of wildlife. No dogs allowed to help preserve the large big horn sheep population.
One of my favorite places! We always see wildlife! The road is wide and well maintained. Plenty of spots to stop and rest. The trail follows the river which offers fishing opportunities. There are public restrooms available too. Hopefully I will make it to the top next time!
Great place to bike/hike if you are in the Denver area. Bighorn sheep protected area and they can often be spotted on the trail or adjacent cliffs. 6.25 miles to the back of the canyon and links up with the Colorado Trail for further hiking and camping. Pit toilets and water available at the TH and there are toilets located all along the trail. Incredible way to spend an afternoon, though I recommend going in the earlier morning or later evening hours if you want to see the sheep. Plan on a lot of trail traffic as its a pretty popular spot, especially on weekends.
Wow this trail has tons of wildlife to catch your eye. The river that runs along the trail is ever so relaxing! If you go the full way it's worth the work. Plenty of places that looked like great places to wet a line. I ran into a group of Big Horn sheep twice on this trail. Fill your water at the beginning of the trail entrance that is your only source.
