“Title this one "Honest Andy". I'm still happy about this help Andy gave me in 2010. Back then, in a rush, with my husband out of town, I called one of the "big name" plumbing and heating companies to replace my hot water heater. Super busy with two young kids to take care of, I didn't research what a standard price should be for this job. The big name company (who is - as I learned later - well known for WAY overcharging people and taking advantage of poorly informed folks) did a fine job, but they charged me $3200 for it!!! At that price, the unit had better scrub my floors and massage my feet. That's ridiculous, so I found out. After friends told me I was basically robbed, I called around for a verbal estimate on the job and Andy told me he would have removed the broken water heater and get me a new one he would install just as well and do it for about 1/4 of the price! Armed with this information, I challenged the company on their price, wrote a letter of complaint to the BBB and threatened to hit "submit" on that letter. A week later I received a check for $2400 from that company. The reason they remain unnamed here is because I promised to not to post my complaint to the BBB and not to disparage them publicly. I keep my promises. (Ask me and I won't lie to you, but I won't post it publicly.) Anyway, THANK YOU Andy for your honesty, and for helping me out when you knew that the job was already completed. (The company wouldn't send someone out to remove the "Cadillac" water heater.)”
