    Went on a great hike from the trailhead to Lake Bierstadt. Lots of uphill but the views were awesome.

    Small picturesque portion of Rocky Mountain National Park offering some grand views and hiking trails from novice to intermediate. A small parking area with picnic tables is where everything starts. Trails can stretch for up to 9 miles but even just a mile into this park and you're surrounded by natural splendor.

    The trails are narrow and include elevation gain over rocky steps. Shaded areas of the trails parallel a roaring stream keeping you cool even in the hot afternoons. Young kids can handle the terrain for a bit but keep a carrier backpack ready for toddlers.

    Great views and potential for elk and mule deer sighting.

    Good place for a picnic. Usually not to crowded. Open moraine and a quick climb up into the back side of Bierstadt lake. Nice stream for a little close quarters, slogging through the button willows type fishing. Usually see mule deer here in the evening and mornings. Walking sticks are helpful on this trail.
