This state park has great hiking trails. It has trails for any type of hiker the trails also have great views on them. Some of the trails are not marked the best but most of the time the trails are clear.
Love this park. Hikers, courteous and enthusiastic mountain bikers, rock climbers, and leashed dogs are all about this place. Lots of cool spots to hike up to!
Have I enjoyed this park. Been here a few times during various seasons. The park is generally pretty popular, but I've never struggled to find a parking spot. There is an entrance fee since it is a state park
I like that this park has very long trails (12+ miles) as well as shorter ones. Very pretty views of mountains, forests, overlooks.
During warmer seasons there are quite a few mountain bikers.
During winters trails can get very icy (microspikes recommended)
Park also has restrooms at the parking lot and great signeage on the trails
I love Staunton State Park and Im very blessed to live right next to it. The scenery there is gorgeous and they are constantly adding new trails so there always seem to be something new to explore. Personally I’ve hiked, trail ran, and hit the trails by horseback. This is a great place to get outside and ground yourself with nature.
I did enjoy the state park and it was great that they had ample picnic tables and that the restrooms were open during the winter. The hike I took was quite easy and very boring. For much of the hike you could see the road if you looked for it, as well as being able to see parking lots and buildings occasionally.
I can't guarantee all hikes follow this trend in the state park but the particular one I took was somewhat disappointing.
I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an easy hike to get away from the stress of life.
