I am an adult patient at Lindsey Orthodontics, and I just finished an 18 month treatment process to correct my bite and straighten my teeth. I was very nervous about the process, as I had sought treatment several years prior at a different orthodontist and was told that my teeth couldn't be straightened without facial reconstruction surgery to my upper palette and lower jaw. I have a very narrow face, small mouth, big teeth, crowding,and a fairly significant overbite. I did not pursue the treatment at that time due to the expense and potential time off work. When I met with Dr. Lindsey, I advised him of my previous consultation and asked if there was a treatment process that wouldn't involve surgery of any kind. After careful examination of my mouth and teeth, he recommended a treatment plan using a new orthodontic appliance called a carrier to create space between my teeth and widen my upper bite. I then moved on to braces to straighten my teeth, fix my bite, and widen my smile. When the braces came off, Dr. Lindsey attached a permanent upper and lower retainer to keep everything in place, as well as removable retainers to wear while sleeping. My resulting smile turned out BEAUTIFUL! I still have a small overbite (which I was advised from the beginning would probably be the case), but I couldn't be happier with the results!”
