“When my father suddenly became ill, my wife and wanted him cared for at home and tried to care for him ourselves, when we thought he had suffered a small stroke, it quickly became clear to us that we were going to need help with his care, as he became weaker. After being admitted to Danbury Hospital, on a snowy day in December, we found that he had not had a stroke at all, but was now diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and that he would need 24 hr care. His only real request of us, was to let me live out his days in his home, with his loyal dog, by his side. The only way, we could have managed this was with the help of BrightStar Care, of Danbury. When James came to Tom's hospital room, to talk to us about having BrightStar's team of caregivers, in his home to care for him, in coordination with Regional Hospice we felt confident that they were the right organization to help us. The day we brought him home, Elena, I'll call her our care coordinator/Angel, met us at the house, with the most capable caregiver, Wendy, who right away had a phenomenal connections, with Tom. She set the tone for our whole experience. When we went home to rest that night, we were confident, that the proper help that we all needed, was finally in place. The next few weeks, would introduce us to our "Team" of care givers, who not only gave Tom excellent care, but they were there for me and my wife. they were so comforting, letting us know his needs and keeping us abreast of his condition and helping us to know what to expect as the end was approaching. Along with Regional hospice we had a formidable team of caregivers that empowered us to give to my Dad, who always strived to provide the best of everything for his family and friends, the very best end of life experience, he could have had. Things happen very fast and if you have people that can get a handle on things for you, you then can give the time and energy to your loved ones, so much better! Instead of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, they allowed us to rest and regroup, every night so that we could enjoy the precious little time that we had left with the most important man, in our lives. We will always be indebted to this amazing organization of caring and compassionate individuals, that have dedicated themselves to the loving care of human beings.”

“From the very first assessment interview with Linda to the finishing up of paperwork after my mother's death, my family's dealings with Hancock Hall had been above and BEYOND all expectation of personal care and professionalism. It is obvious that the staff do their utmost to maintain the dignity of the residents by maintaining a CLEAN environment and appropriate activities. (There was never, in my experience, the horrid smell of urine wafting through the hallways, as is typical in most of the nursing homes I have ever visited!) And when I say the "staff", I mean EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE whose path we crossed, looked me in the eye, smiled and nodded or spoke a greeting, from the VP (Jan?) to the volunteers that served snacks around 3:30pm and the janitor. The ladies in the financial office were ever so competent and helpful. The nurses and doctor communicated clearly and regularly about any changes in my mother's condition. My family cared for my mother at her home until our mental, physical and emotional resources were exhausted. Once Hancock Hall took over, we could then be with my mother and she with us in an atmosphere of love, peace and dignity rather than guilt and frustration. Hancock hall was a blessing from heaven in every respect! I can't imagine why anyone would rate this facility less than 5 stars!”
