  Although it has been a few years since I patronized the Claymont Steak Shop, I remember it as a busy but accommodating restaurant staffed by friendly, knowledgeable folks who's goal is to make you the perfect sandwich.
  
  If you want to sit down in a plain, diner/restaurant, sandwich shop with a nice, fresh (more on that in a bit), and well prepared food; give Claymont Steak Shop a chance. With hundreds of different foods, from starters, soups and salads through main meal to dessert; their literally is something for everyone.
  
  If you want to pick up your meal, make sure to call or order online at least 30 minutes to one hour in advance. Weekend afternoons and nights are busy.
  
  Regarding ordering online; these folks have developed a nice "order online" drop down menu. Their menu is available online for download and prior perusal.
  
  Obviously, as the name clearly stated, they are best known for their steak sandwiches and cheesesteaks. None of those chopped, processed, flash frozen sheets of "meat paper" served at so many shops. Each day they prepare, by slicing, fresh, Grade A beef. It is sliced thin and is never tough or chewy.
  
  Simply the best Steak Sandwich in Delaware and now, not only in Claymont but also in Wilmington and Newark!

  All the big names in downtown Philadelphia are due their accolades it seems by numbers. Claymont Steaks in Delaware earn their own by comparison. The steaks taste like they have a gravy...they're actually that good.

  Good cheese steak sandwich. Best to call ahead or order on line. Very popular place and you could wait up to 30minutes for your order.

  I was hankering for a mouth-watering chicken cheese steak for a long time. I knew that the award-winning Claymont Steak Shop wouldn't disappoint so I visited this popular establishment while I was in Claymont. I walked into the restaurant and I was impressed. It was clean and open. The staff was friendly and professional. The staff wore professional aprons and work attire and I noticed that everyone worked cohesively as a team. I liked this.
  
  Unfortunately, I waited 20 minutes for my lunch which I had ordered a small chicken cheese steak and chicken fries and a bottled Lipton peach iced tea. When my name was called, I was excited. After thanking the cook for my lunch, I walked outside to my company van. I was appalled when I unwrapped my meal. Beef! My order was incorrect. I asked for a chicken cheese steak but I received a regular cheese steak. I was furious and upset. I was upset that I wanted to have a great chicken cheese steak from a reputable and popular place like the Claymont Steak Shop. I was furious because I patiently waited 20 minutes for my meal to get cooked, prepared, and wrapped up for me and I received a sandwich which I never ordered and my lunch break ended.
  
  Overall, despite the long wait and missing out on the chicken cheese steak, Claymont Steak Shop is amazing!
