Lotus blooms in late July

A nice oasis from the surrounding neighborhood. Peaceful, scenic, and quiet. Took the Ranger-guided tour with Sarah who was very knowledgeable and informative. This a great place to lose yourself for a few hours.

Once you find your way to the Aquatic Gardens either by walking in the trail from Kenilworth Park or by driving up to the parking lot on Anacostia Ave., walk into the lily pond area and take the path to the left. At the back of the pond area will be the entrance to the boardwalk. It will take you back into a large wetlands area covered with water plants. If you're patient, you'll also see birds, turtles, and various insects. At the end if the boardwalk is a viewing area that has seating.
