  I loved our visit to the portrait gallery. It is very well done even for a group on 12 girl Scouts. The only downfall was that apparently nobody could give us a map and clear directions where we could find specific portraits (aside from the presidents in their dedicated hall).

  Another Smithsonian which means a visit here is completely free. There is a wonderful range of portraits and different exhibits, however the real winner is the Presidential Gallery. Wander through from George Washington to Abraham Lincoln, FDR, Nixon, Bush x2 and the currently featured portrait of Barack Obama.
  
  A real trip through American history in this excellent set of displays.

  Beautiful spaces throughout. The I terror atrium is an airy, light-filled space that is perfect for relaxing. Modern art and sculptures upstairs have permanent and rotating exhibits. The upstairs is my favorite. The area has lots of dining options, so travelers will find this to be a very convenient place to visit as well.

  I loved this museum. I wish I could have spent more time here. I had the opportunity to see some amazing exhibits. Stunning artwork and peaceful atmosphere. If you go, spend some time in the courtyard. It's such a peaceful space.

  Such a lovely museum. It is easy to reach by metro and surrounding Chinatown is fun to walk around. The building that houses the museum of fantastic from the modern courtyard to the antique details. The paintings are great. They have awesome permanent exhibits but also great traveling ones. Very family friendly and easy to move around with a stroller although the changing tables are only in the family bathrooms, which were not always easy to find.m

(202) 633-8300. Somehow I forgot to review this amazing homage to our Presidents. If you visit DC the National Portrait Gallery is a great quick visit with wonderful portraits of all our presidents. The newer presidents are represented in more modern painting techniques ( chuck close etc).
