The only library with books by Howard Thurman and these books are in the Special Collections. The staff, especially Britt, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. While there I visited the gallery. There is now(February 2019) an exhibition of South Florida artists that MUST be seen.
Excellent staff very accommodating and helpful.
This a great place to study. The library is two stories high, which this was my 1st time visiting a two story library. They always have events available for the public. Great museum to visit as well. The employees are very kind and are willing to help you. Thank you African-American Research Library! Awesome reads.
I attended a book fair event. There were great books on different topics being sold by local writers. A real treat to see.
My only complaint is that for this to be a library it is quite noisy. The kids will play games and yell back and forth to one another from different computers. Most times they don't get silenced. Other than that I enjoy coming here. The staff is always friendly.
The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) is an award winning 60,000 square foot facility that includes a 300-seat auditorium, seminar and conference rooms, and exhibit areas. Upstairs is a youth services area, a special collections area and a neighborhood library with a computer lab.
60,000 sq ft jewel, only the third of its kind in the U.S. A main library and a unique children's library with more Black history books and books written by Blacks than any other facility in the country.
