A boardwalk takes you around the nature preserve. You can see many birds and turtles as you walk around. Canoe rentals are available at set times. No admission - plenty of parking. This area is as peaceful as you will find in urban America. The first hour I was there I was alone with nature. This is the road less travelled. The downside is the lack of animals that I witnessed. Children will be bored, but a true nature lover will find find peace and tranquility.
I never know if I should rate parks on my expectations or with what they promise. I guess I'll go with a lil bit of both. This park is exactly what if promises. A board in the middle of the reservation area. The board walk is a solid 5 minutes walk and well maintained. No trash around the park. You can also rent a canoe. Even though some were full of water. Saw one snake, and a few turtles and fish. It's a bummer you can't do anything "fun" here. No fishing, no drinking, no smoking, no skating, no boats, and specially no pets.
If you want a park just to sit down and watch a swampy area. This is perfect for you. Anything else you want to do go somewhere else.
Beautiful scenery. A decent place to take a stroll along a boardwalk with a couple of covered bench areas. There are bathrooms in back of a trailer by the parking lot.
Great walkway over a marsh, and can usually see many large turtles and fish. Also great opportunity to see large water birds & hawks. Best early morning or evening to see most wildlife.
Perfect place to disconnect from busy city life..tranquil and peaceful. Trail is not too long so it's a great place for families with smaller kids. Depending on the time of the day, you can see different wild life. There are also informative signs on plants and animals you can spot along the trail.
