German Backhaus

Just outside of downtown Mount Dora you'll find this cute, amazing place. My sister and I always look forward to going in there when we're in town. They have great bakery items!

As a German customer I can only confirm that the bakery products are all super delicious and tasty and quite original as you would find them in Germany. You can save yourself the trip overseas if you are looking for something special. All goodies were much appreciated during Thanksgiving.

Great bakery. It was hard not to buy everything! Everything is homemade! The lady (so bad with names!) Was the greatest to have a conversation with! If you are in the area you MUST stop in!

Fabulous bakery with such wonderful delights! So friendly and it smelled absolutely divine!!! Sandwiches for lunch snd breakfast! Fresh breads and so many desserts! Recommend highly!

Pastry Heaven! Real Hearty Breads. Select German meats, sausages, and Deli items. The German Potato Salad is SOOOOO Delicious. No seating, but the park across the street has some benches, and the view of Lake Ivanhoe is Spectacular. The very Pleasant Staff here is knowledgeable about all the breads and pastries, and have even taught me a few words of German! This Shop is located In Swanson’s Ivanhoe Row, which includes an Art Gallery, Custom Jeweler, Woman's Clothing shop, Men's clothing shop, Wine shop, Beauty Shop, Specialty Stationary/Gift shop, and a new Kombucha Brewery. I come on most Saturdays and enjoy strolling along this stretch of The City Beautiful, it's really a "Hidden Gem"! UPDATE: They've moved to a new location. I've got to go visit them there!
