A beautiful treasure, especially for southeast Florida. The beach is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot, but it's well-worth it. Be aware that you're not going to be able to to bring along large coolers or dogs, and only half the beach allows umbrellas.
If you want to get an up close view of the clifs, go at low tide. If you want to see the the "blowing rocks" doing their trick, got at high tide.
Absolutely gorgeous place everyone should visit! BRING WATER SHOES/SNEAKERS! The black sand gets boiling lava hot and is hard to walk in. Flip flops don't do the job. Great place to snorkel in the crystal clear water. The "reef" is pretty minimal but there are a few fish and crabs. Parking is super limited; get there at 9AM.
It was cool to see but very rough. Not recommended if you have children or weak swimmers. The sand is fire and will burn you so bad it makes you want to cry. We never plan on going back but it was worth seeing once. The best part was how secluded it was. Only 3 others groups were there. Just a few miles down the beach it is alot calmer. Recommend taking a walk if you want to safely swim. Parking is very limited so go early. Also it closes at 4:30 everyday.
Beautiful, one of a kind beach in South Florida. Cliffs that have been hallowed by a millennia of waves, sending water shooting sky high. There are also several trails around the visitor center for you to also explore. I absolutely loved it and got some great photos while there. A must see if you're in the area! Just a note, visitor center and parking close at 4:30, so if you arrive later you'll have to park at the beach just south and then make your way over.
