When I first started practicing Ashtanga with Patrick, he was exactly what I had sought after in a Yoga teacher.
With so many studio options to practice yoga in Miami, why did I choose Ashtanga Yoga Phulla?
That’s just it. There are too many Yoga studios with a saturation of underwhelming, inexperienced Yoga teachers. You know how everyone in L.A. is an actor? Seems like every fitness enthusiast in Miami is enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (TT), is thinking about enrolling in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (TT), just completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (TT), a health and lifestyle coach, a Yoga teacher, the list goes on and on.
Patrick, the founder of Ashtanga Yoga Phulla has an impressive curriculum vitae. With over 10 years practicing Ashtanga, 10 years of teaching experience, quite a few trips to the source in Mysore, India, and the blessing to teach the Ashtanga method with Level 2 Authorization (Don’t know what that is? Ask him about it.), he’s well equipped to be a Yoga teacher. A quick glance at his website details his experience.
His Instagram feed and newsletter provide rooted intel about Yoga philosophy, academic-like analysis of slokas, some insightful (and funny) commentaries, etc.
What’s refreshing about him is that there are no Yogic accessories and/or props to his persona. You won’t find beads, popular yogic clothing, or incense (he may be a vegetarian). Just a real person teaching Yoga as true as possible.
