Excellent adventure FOR ALL AGES!
Things to know…
-$3 to park with two people
-must rent tubes outside of park @ Tube King($7/tube)
-water appears to be below 4 ft throughout
-you should absolutely take pictures
(Bring a waterproof case or buy one for $15 at the concession stand)
-follow walking path past the concession stand for spring entrance
-I suggest spending at least 4 hours here. The spring only takes 20 minutes to float down but you will want to just sit or swim in this beautiful and cool water! Bring some blankets or chairs, drinks, a grill, food and have yourself an amazing day!!
*I did not see any alligators or snakes.
*The park opens at 8 am and during the summer, the car line to get in starts at 5 am. If you want to avoid this, I would recommend coming here on a school day and you won’t even need to worry about waiting on line early.
Park as close to the pavilion as you can behind the pavilion is a trail to the right that goes into the woods. Follow the trail right to the top of the springs. The water will be cold at 1st, but get in your tube and you'll get used to it real quick. Let the Springs take you down and when you get to where everyone is in the water swimming keep going.. you will see a sign that says do not enter but that is talking about entering the woods up top! You can keep floating down and it's a little ways down! I missed it the first trip! There is a little bridge that will tell you when it's time to stop with a rope going across. You can walk up over the bridge and back up to the top which only takes about about 7 minutes.
Absolutely beautiful park, both camping and swimming. The bathrooms in the campground were kept very clean, and everyone was very pleasant. A bear did walk through our site one night, but no damage was done. The water wasn't too cold which made it even better. The tubing was about 8 minutes from start to middle, but from middle to end there wasn't much current, so we didn't complete the run but once. I wouldn't suggest going without a tube because some spots are really rocky.
This spring is so beautiful! First stop on our vacation and so glad we did. Bring your own tube or rent one down the street. Also bring some goggles to look around under the water. You walk to the beginning of the spring and can float all the way to the open swimming area then past that, down to the end. Once you reach the end, you can walk back to the swimming area or walk further back to the beginning. It's a beautiful walk through the woods on paths.
This park is beautiful! Probably the best park I have seen so far in Florida. The water at the spring is so clear! You can easily spend a whole day here. I definitely want to try camping here one day. There's also hiking trails which is nice.
