  Always the best, under new management but God is still the boss. They have a great mission, serving over 44,000 families with their food pantry alone. Let's hope and pray the United Methodist Church in Florida doesn't mess one of their largest church missions up like has happened to lots of the denomination.
  The interim pastor has her hands tied trying to see something flourish when her skill set doesn't include much experience with poor folk. She has theory, but experience is what will solidify the continuation of this ministry. Can't imagine how failure of this most successful and growing mission could ever be "excused". What possibly could the UMC use to justify it. Jesus recognized the heart of the poor, he had compassion for them. The Pharisees of his day never did get it.
  To try to supplant it by moving it would hurt it, to have someone who doesn't have the heart for it would hurt it, to allow thousands of families to go hungry when there are marble buildings that could be sold to help, would be devastating to this community and to the face of the UMC. This is the type of ministry that built Methodism and the type of mission Kathleen tried to strengthen through practicing Wesley's theology.
  Wesley theology is where the heart of the Lord's Pantry at Kathleen Methodist Mission beats, it sustains its own life by bringing hope to those who when asked when they were little, "... what they wanted to be?" ...they never answered "I want to be poorer than my neighbor and stand in long lines for food".
  John and Charles Wesley had the women and children separated from the men in the 1700's prisons. They convinced the coal miners to go home on payday instead of wasting their money at the pub, that way mama could have the means to feed the family.
  In the last few years the UMC had put more time and more money into determining ways to please the secular society, than to trust the Lord's words, "You will always have the poor amongst you".
  If only our poor had a voice, there are more of them in the world than the confused and greedy.
