Marl Bed Flats Tract Trailhead

Great place for people who study Mycology.

Two short hiking, biking or horse trails, seems to be missing some markings. Parking area is small, wouldn't recommend a trailer. Road going to trail head is single lane.

Awesome short hiking/birding loop. If you got an hour to kill the airport take an Uber down here and check it out. Big ancient oaks, pastureland, wetland and open water make for some nice diversity in an easy to reach spot.

Marl Bed Flats is my favorite tract in the Lake Jesup Conservation Area. I visit this area frequently to look for wildlife, especially shorebirds, wading birds and other wildlife that can be found in marshy areas.
When you arrive at the parking area, you can walk through two open gates. You can then pass through an oak hammock until you get out to the Marl Bed Slough. It can be very wet at times, so I always bring wading boots with me. You also share this area with cattle, so watch your step!

I've logged over 160 species of birds in this area, along with Bobcats, White-tailed Deer, Coyotes, lots of butterflied and dragonflies, and unfortunately, feral pigs.
