Me and my husband have stayed at numerous B@B’s...all very lovely...but the Higgins House by far has been the most charming! Everything was beyond our expectations...from the lovely decor, wine, closeness to historic downtown Sanford and the comfortable feel of home all to the extraordinary breakfast and history behind the house itself...we were just so pleased! Lisa is an amazing host who welcomes you with such graciousness that I would highly recommend this establishment!

Higgins House is a BEAUTIFUL Victorian B&B, rich with the history of Sanford and old Florida. The owner is a direct descendant of the original owner of this manor on the Historic Registry. The decor, the ambiance, and the history of this home make it a perfect place to rest and relax.
We were fortunate to have a seating for brunch in what can only be described as a dining experience. The chef prepared made to order omelets, or eggs, any way you preferred, and the accompanying offerings were all delicious. The staff was there for every need, almost anticipating them and responding with kindness that was generous and welcoming.
This is the perfect location to spend a relaxing Sunday morning, enjoying a Mimosa on the front porch with people from all over the county and country, that quickly become friends.

The inn provided a spacious room with a really comfy bed. The outdoor spaces were beautifully maintained and the second story porch and the front porches were lovely to sit in. There was a large park directly across the street. Lisa provided fresh baked goodies, appetizers and a nice selection of wines, beer and coffees. Breakfast each morning was an absolute delight. We so enjoyed conversing with Lisa about the history of her great grandfather's house. It was only a short walking distance from many bars and restaurants, live music and Lake Monroe. The people were friendly and I felt very safe walking around the area. The drive along the waterfront from the interstate was so easy. If you must drive into Orlando, it is a short distance.
I will defnitely visit again and tell all my friends about the Higgins House. The ambience of the area makes me want to move there and slow the pace of life down a bit. You won't go wrong if you stay here!

Our stay at the Higgins House was one to write home about! The space is beautiful, very well maintained and thought through in every detail. We were greeted promptly upon arrival with cheese, fruit, nuts and wine, given a tour of the space and helpful information about the local restaurants and music venues. Each room seemed to have its own character, all beautiful and in different ways. There is a small common space with a television, a giant porch overlooking one of downtown Sanford's beautiful parks and a garden/outdoor area that makes you dream about hosting events-- even if you haven't figured out a reason to, yet. The first host we met and the owner were both kind, helpful and willing to give us space to relax and enjoy the area. I have to eat gluten free and so I often expect that I cannot enjoy the typical 'breakfast' part of a bed and breakfast. Instead, upon booking, they asked about food allergies and then provided a beautiful, delicious breakfast including gluten free pancakes, a homemade blueberry syrup, berry salad, coffee and an assortment of breakfast meat choices. They are knowledgeable about Sanford and more specifically about the Higgins family because the new owner is from the family herself :) We so enjoyed our stay, our hosts, our room, our breakfast and the Sanford area. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, peaceful, thoughtful and walkable spot to see downtown Sanford and enjoy the history of the area.

Beautiful, well kept house built in 1894 filled with antiques and charm. The rooms are large and wonderfully decorated with an elegant yet cozy feel. The new owner is even a direct descendant (great granddaughter) of the original builder! Sanford downtown is an easy stroll away with many restaurants and pubs, and I'm disappointed I couldn't visit more on my short trip. Will definitely be staying again!
