Fun, ~1hr tour that includes male and female prisoner quarters, death row + solitary confinement, (graphic) images from an actual hanging, the sheriff's living quarters, and the deputies sleeping area. Overall I'd say we'll worth the money, the tour guides are prisoners and all are in character during the tour. Highly recommend!
Very fun! We did the day tour and the kids loved it! They told awesome stories and were in character! The only bad thing is that there was a baby in the group and she cried the whole time so we couldn't really hear. They did wind up leaving towards the end of the tour.
Jack was our tour guide during our day visit and he is INCREDIBLE! Very knowledgeable and the added humor made this our favorite place to visit. He made sure to include the crowd which often ended up being my family interacting. Oh and we did the haunted visit at night, too. TOTALLY WORTH IT! I caught a green orb at the stairs exiting the jail. My kid caught what looks to be a full apparition. Well worth the visit.
** Photos are unedited with the exception of zooming in on the woman in my kid's pic.
Loved this experience! Learned so much about how jails operated during that time period. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. He really helped make the experience. It was very neat to see the location as 95% is original. Seeing the 3rd ever in the world finger printing kit was something else.
Great tour! We happened upon it at the start of our trolley tour for the day and so happy that we did! A great big thank you to inmate Brooklyn Benny for giving us the dime tour and making us feel very grateful to be free! Benny gave us a great laugh but was also super informative about the jail.
