Extremely attentive and detailed in patient histories. Superb bona-fides and long experience, but always up on the professional journals/literature and willing to advise patients of latest findings. This is rare to find, since most doctors of such long experience don't typically embrace newer treatments so readily.
Dr. Rivera does so, and in fact I noticed he now offers TMS, the only FDA-approved method offering actual remission from depression in long-term patients or those who haven't responded to medication.
Best I've found in Central Florida so I come from 45 minutes for my appointments. Office staff very pleasant. Sometimes there is a wait time, but only because Dr. Rivera tends to take extra time to deal with a patient's concerns (as he has in my case, going over the allotted time).
I'm extremely satisfied. (My first visit was 2004, by the way, so this is coming from a long-term patient with good knowledge of this doctor.)
I have been a patient of Dr. Rivera for quite some time now and am beyond grateful for the treatment provided. I have decided to leave a comment due to the misleading information in the reviews. I have personally witnessed people yelling at office staff because they would not authorize their prescriptions due to abuse. Dr. Rivera has made accommodations for a plethora of patients, but that does not mean he has to do it. This sense of entitlement and disregard for other patients is commonly seen. People only write reviews when they don't get what they want, if you want to get better, come here. If you want your pills and free services, go somewhere else. You are simply taking up valuable time.
EDIT: I previously stated that I disliked one of the girls in the office, but have since changed my mind; I have been known to speak hastily, and I think I misjudged. The office can be occasionally disorganized and wait times are always high, but the warm, caring atmosphere compensates. I been to this office since I was 13, and am now 27. Dr. Rivera is the most understanding, patient, intelligent, and considerate doctor I've ever been to. If you want to be heard, or if you're sick of mental illness being approached with prejudice and disdain rather than care and kindness, come here.
Dr. Rivera, along with Melissa and Carolina are outstanding!!! They truly care about their patients. Dr Rivera keeps up on the latest and greatest treatments and even has RTMS treatments available in the office, he attends conferences regularly and truly listens to his patients. Carolina and Melissa are always in a good mood (at least when I've been there :) ) and they both fought on my behalf with a genetic testing company that wanted to charge me more for a test than they had represented. I even had an issue with my BCBS insurance not approving a prescribed medication and the team allowed me to get a second set of samples to keep me on track for my treatment until the kinks could be worked out with my insurance company. Not a lot of places would have done that! I was and am so blessed to have found this team when my prior doctor retired. ~ Jack
