We had a major issue happen to our house. We jumped on it right away to avoid it getting worst. Dealing with the insurance company adjustur was AWFUL! My wife was referred to Matt at Hunter Public Adjusting. She called him, he took over. His results far exceeded my expectations.
This is my first homeowners claim in 20+ years on paying homeowners insurance and I really hope I never have one again, but if I do I will be calling Matt immediately!

In late summer, 2020, I discovered a slow water leak behind the exterior stone facing on my dining room wall. It had apparently been in process for a decade. I contacted my insurance company of 50 years, one that’s very highly rated. While I thought I was fairly savvy on personal financial matters, this was the beginning of a year-plus-long tutorial on insurance companies. After submitting a claim to the company, I received a phone call from a third party claiming to represent my company and rejecting my claim on flimsy grounds. I contacted my company and demanded a written response from THEM, which wasn’t forthcoming. I also requested and received a copy of my policy. It came, and though I have six years of college and a 40+ year career in business, the document was gibberish, impossible to make any sense of.

I had contacted a builder to discuss repairs, and he kindly referred me to Hunter Public Adjusting Corp. I confess, I’d never heard of a “public adjuster.” (Remember the term, it could be important to you…)

Matt Hunter explained to me that the gibberish is intentional. That insurance companies hire low-rent third party “adjusters” to do the dirty work of denying valid claims. That a company must at least do a “fig-leaf” inspection before issuing a policy, and therefore rejecting claims based on pre-existing damage or building defects is usually bogus. A Public Adjuster is licensed by the Department Of Insurance to represent and advocate for the client against the insurance company, one who understands the policy and state laws governing the policy, who is disillusioned by industry practices and eager to turn the Industry’s games against them.

With my approval, he did just that. He twisted their tails mercilessly. The offers began coming in, first $7,000, then a little more, and then more. Eventually he advised me that he had done about all he could do, more than doubling their initial cash offer, and covering over 60% of my total repair cost. And he took on this job with an ironclad up-front guarantee: I would pay him a fair percentage of my claim receipts, but if he got nothing, I owed him nothing.

I gained a new understanding of the Insurance Industry, a real appreciation for a previously unknown consumer service, and a profound respect for Mr. Matt Hunter. The man is relentless. A fair claim was paid. We start repairs in two weeks. And all I had to do was let him deal with my insurance company and tolerate a 2ft x3ft patch on my dining room wall for eleven months. Well worth it.
