They guys did a great job for a reasonable price. Truck sounds great again.
I foolishly drove over a curb (I thought it was significantly lower than it was in reality) in my Lexus SUV and promptly noticed my car sounded much louder and more throaty, but I was not willing to admit it at first. So I pretended it never happened for at least a week, telling myself that I had just never really paid much attention to the sound before then, and it was probably fine. One day my husband made a comment about it and I agreed that it did sound a little louder than usual and suggested perhaps he ought to take it in to the shop for me to get it checked out...
He came home to tell me the diagnosis was that I had run over something and that my muffler either needed to be welded, which they did not offer, or entirely replaced for $625. Aghast but still not willing to fess up to my off road excursion, I told my husband I didn't remember hitting anything but I'd call around and find a welder.
The next stop was mieneke. They diagnosed the same issue and said they could replace the damaged part for $255, still too high a price to pay for my foolishness! About this time, I finally mention to my husband that the issue MIGHT be bc I drove over a curb... but who could say for certain? Truly a mystery! Wouldn't you know, that man latched on to that tidbit like a hawk!! Is it so impossible it was just a coincidence? I think not, but regardless, I insisted I would pay for the cost of the repair.
Now, even more motivated to find a lower priced repair, I took my car to Johnny Fullers Master Muffler. I dropped it off and ~10 minutes later, Carlos called me up to tell me I had run over something and damaged the muffler. He gave me 2 options: hammer it back into place or weld a pipe to stop the leak for $100. (Leak?! "What leak?" I asked, suddenly concerned bc I had continued to drive for a month after the mysterious noise started. "It's leaking air" he clarified. "Oh. Right, of course. I knew that...") I asked Carlos to try the hammer, and then the welding.
An hour or so later, he called to tell me my car was ready. Grand total? $60. Only $60 to quiet the throaty rumble back to a gentle purr, HOORAY!! Now I know exactly where to go next time I take my Lexus SUV on an off-road detour!
TLDR; Honest people, good work for the most reasonable price I could find for muffler repair.
Isreal is the most honest ,friendly mechanic I've ever used.!
