Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

My wife Susan and I spent a week in Hawaii in 2005. Myself being a Mount Carmel graduate 1971 Mount Carmel High School 6410 South Dante Avenue Chicago Illinois. We stopped to visit and look around the beautiful church and grounds we ran into the pastor at the time I don't remember his name. I had asked the pastor if he had scapulars he said no they were hard to get. When my wife and I return to Chicago we visited Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Darien Illinois we purchased 250 scapulars and sent them on to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Hawaii. Before we left the pastor gave me a beautiful painting Jesus Christ face on a leave. I have this framed and on the wall in my living room according to the US Postal Service the scapulars need it to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Hawaii. I hope all those that received them still wear them today 2022. I have been wearing mine for 55 years.

First time attending was last Sunday and what a wonderful church & community! I felt so at home. It’s hard to keep our spirits up due to covid and still everyone was very welcoming.

Best little country Catholic church on Oahu. Very warm and welcoming to all visitors. Each Sunday, the parishioners host every one after the mass services to wonderful breakfast and continued fellowship. Fr. Paulo Kosaka great pastor priest who cares for everyone. Must check this church out.
