*Free*The Art Institute South Garden steps from Michigan Ave was designed by Dan Kiley and dedicated in 1967. The garden contains honey locust trees, cockspur hawthorn trees, low lying shrubs and bushes, and season interest bulbs and plantings. A sculpture 'Fountain of the Great Lakes' or 'Ladies of the Lakes' designed by Master Sculptor Lorado Taft 1860-1936 was dedicated in 1913. Taft was a devoted artist and created many interesting sculptures in his lifetime. Research wikipedia for an extensive list of sculptural images.
Area of respite downtown
So peaceful
The Fountain of the Great Lakes is beautiful and worth stopping for! It can be easily missed as it is tucked away in the South Garden of the Art Institute.
Really cool fountain. Quiet place to sit in a loud neighborhood. Would like to go back and read a book.
