Staff is very helpful. I live out of state and it is important to me to have flowers placed for my family on our special days. Through these many years they have always been faithful in helping me respect my loved ones with flowers and flag placements. Thank you again for your kindness, caring, and respect to my family. John A. Jackson's daughter.
I LOVE OAK WOODS CEMETERY BECAUSE I HAVE MY LOVE ONE'S IN THAT AREA
As a family service counselor I have an gained interest in the history at cemeteries. I work at a beautiful memorial garden and this place is breathtaking. So much history and lots of unique monuments. Well kept.
I would like to commend Oak Woods Cemetery and their staff on their professionalism during the difficult process of burying my father. I worked with Kimlianne (Kim) Washington and over the couple of days of planning; she was not only professional and knowledgeable, but personable too. My father’s burial ceremony went off without a hitch. I was very surprised to find out how many famous and infamous Chicago public figures made Oak Woods their final resting place.
Dispute the rude lady with the short hair in the private office, this is a great cemetery. My grandparents are buried here and I haven’t been back since I moved out of town 10 years ago. I came in this past Sunday and some men who came before me rang the bell for assistance. A lady came out the office on the right and was extremely rude when they were asking the price of a picture for a gravestone. Another lady came out the back and the rude lady left and slammed her door. The men commented how rude she was and the lady with the longer hair who came from the back apologized on her behalf. It’s a busy place, she was trying to help the two men and the phone was ringing and I still hadn’t been helped. Finally I grabbed a map and found the area where my grandparents are, but the map is a poor quality copy so I couldn’t read the street names. I finally had to politely interrupt after 10 minutes and just point to the map and ask the name of this street so I can be on my way. The lady was so nice and grabbed a highlighter and marked my path.
The cemetery is beautiful and in the spring you can see baby ducklings. It’s a quiet place to go and reflect.
