I'm writing this review about Dr. Steven Koos. I see another doctors name here so I thought I'd write it on here to actually review the name on this website...
I went to Dr. Koos about five years ago to remove all four wisdom teeth at the same time. I can't believe I didn't write a review for him back then it went so well. I'm so glad I found him, I chose him out of three others that I went to. My size makes me have more risks so I was very nervous about who I wanted to go to but something about him made me feel at ease and that he knew exactly what he was doing. My first consultation he explained what was going to happen and any risks associated with the procedure. This is five years ago so my memory of what happened isn't that clear so I don't remember everything that happened. All I really remember is how he made me feel... very calm, I'm in good hands and that he really cares for his patients. Considering I have extreme anxiety when visiting dentists, even for a normal check up, this is a big deal for me. On my actual extraction day I do remember shaking like a leaf. They took me to this room that looked very serene, I calmed down a tad bit. They had music going, I believe it was Adele. She immediately took my vitals and put something around my nose to calm me. It wasn't working at all but what made me calm was how confident the assistant was and how nice she was. Then shortly after I saw Dr. Koos. He said some reassuring words, put the IV in (I didn't feel a thing), and then I went to sleep. I remember him saying are you ready (in my mind I was thinking oh noo I'm gonna feel the Novocaine injection cause I'm not out yet) and I nodded and then bam I woke up and they were asking me how I was feeling. The procedure was finished! It felt like a second went by. I don't remember anything after him asking me if I'm ready and then him asking me how I was feeling/doing and me saying highly embarrassing things lol He kept professional. So as time went on with my healing, not one dry socket and to me this was important. He's highly skilled because I had no dry sockets, minimal swelling and basically no real pain.
Now five years later I need a decayed tooth that is beyond a filling. I have a choice between root canal and extraction so I went with extraction. I immediately contacted him because hes the most skilled and also extremely affordable. I just had the consultation yesterday and the exact same feeling came over me (shaking like a leaf but then he comes in with a very kind and caring attitude and calms me down) He's so caring that he wanted me to save the tooth and really explained why it might be a better option and actually stopped to get a quote for me. I am still going ahead with the extraction (even though there quote was very reasonable). In about 6 days I will be getting that molar extracted under sedation (because of my extreme dental anxiety) with him and I will update after it's done. I just wanted to get this review written so I don't forget again!
An incredibly gifted oral surgeon. Dr. Schrotenboer provided me with a thorough explanation both during my consultation and the day of my wisdom teeth extraction. He is patient and detailed when answering his patient's questions, and definitely establishes trust with his patients.
The staff and the office is the perfect environment you'd ever want to walk into for any dental procedure. They are kind, friendly, and offer complimentary items to their guests while they wait for their appointment.
I would 100% recommend Dr. Schrotenboer to anyone who is looking to have a positive and reassuring experience with a skilled oral surgeon.
Dr. Schrotenboer is a professional through and through.
He made the entire wisdom teeth removal process easy and worry free and even called us at home the night of the surgery to make sure everything was all good.
Also, Ora Dental's waiting room chairs were comfy as hell and everyone there kind and helpful throughout.
10/10 would definitely use them again.
