There are numerous options for vegetarians, even for a limited menu that they have here. I was happy with my taco salad and the “snacks” that they have available (fried pickles and nachos were the best dishes on the menu). The vegan chicken option was fine, but quite bland without the sauce. The server was also confused as to how many pieces came in the order, which was disappointing. Overall, the experience was pretty good. Not the best option for people looking for “fake meat”, but still pretty good.
Great Happy Hour options. Very creative menu. Maximum possibilities with local sourcing. Very empathetic and professional staff. Chef is very personable. ALWAYS treat the kitchen to a six pack!
Ordered the fried chicken for delivery. Got the house hot sauce and a side of mashed potatoes and slaw. Skin was crispy and well seasoned and the meat was juicy. Really great fried chicken. Definitely worth the effort.
I have been there before and after it changed from fine-dining at causal atmosphere to fried-chicken centric with high quality compliments. Although I like to former version better but I understand the current format is more approachable for a neighborhood restaurant. Anyway, the service has always been attentive and thorough, and the food is very good. The fried chicken is definitely high quality, but the stars are the creative sides and appetizers where the chef's skills shine.

(773) 697-4413. Just order all the biscuits, okay? I've been to split-rail once at the chefs table. All the offerings were delicious, and it was a super fun Split-Rail uses high quality ingredients, so I'm sure these aren't boxed. I wouldn't be surprised if the potatoes were 'mashed' in a food processor.

Chicago, IL 60622. (773) 697-4413. Split Rail takes Midwestern food standbys from the '80s/'90s-ish period and, in most cases, improves on them a whole lot. And while in general, we go out of our way not to eat Chicken McNuggets and Hamburger Helper for dinner, the food here is good enough to try at...
