John and the Bayer Builders team have done three separate jobs for us in Berwyn (deck/basement/kitchen) in the last 4 years. They have done outstanding work for us. John is really easy to work with and has great ideas. His team of guys that do the work for him are talented, hard-working and conscientious. We will probably have him do more work in the future. We highly recommend Bayer Builders for any home renovation work.

Highly recommend Bayer Builders! They completely rebuilt my front porch and exceeded my expectation. They removed all the crumbling concrete steps, porch pad, rotted wood supports and frail metal railings. They were able to reenforced the existing brick base and ceiling supports, reducing my costs. They framed, and rebuilt with cedar beams/ railings and finished with a beautiful, durable composite wood flooring. The detail of the craftsmanship on the custom cedar railings and posts are amazing. Demo and rebuild were completed in the estimate that was given of 3 weeks. I showed John a picture of how I wanted it, and he and his team did the rest! Seamless from beginning to end. Bayer Builders dealt with all the permitting and inspections and helped me pick out materials (offering low- and high-end pricing). They consulted with me throughout the project, with very little effort on my part to get this massive project completed. I have to say that I am highly impressed with the skill, attention to detail, and excellent work ethics that the crew demonstrated. These trades seem to be a dying breed and John has secured the finest of them! I look forward to enjoying my porch for many years to come and hope to work with them again. Bayer Builders and their entire crew are amazing! They renovated our two flat into a single family home. Although it was a longer then expected process, everyone that worked in our home was a pleasure to have around daily with our family. So much as that my kids ask for them to come hang out. I very highly recommend John Bayer for any home renovations. Winter 2018, every pipe in our Chicago condo froze and burst, and unfortunately, the condo had to be completely gutted and renovated. I live out-of-state, and John coordinated every step of the process, from the demolition to the finishing and preparing it for sale (and even working with our realtor). The work was beautiful, and the condo sold the first day it was on the market - I credit John's expertise and craftsmanship. Despite living in another state, I always felt like I was connected to the project as John was always available, kept me up-to-date on everything and was wonderful to work with. I couldn't be happier!

We have an antique foursquare home and Bayer Builders replaced our back deck and front stairs keeping the traditional look we love, and we are so happy with the results! The project was a great upgrade for us and we were able to collaborate with John and his team throughout. John is very responsive and has great ideas, helping us with our decisions and putting us at ease. It is so nice and refreshing to be able to email or even text your builder and get a quick response. He helped us research building materials and offered great perspective based on his experience and our desires. He also directed us to some great examples and ideas that we would have never thought of on our own. After hours of personal research, John helped make our decisions easy and we chose pre-treated lumber for our back deck and Azek composite for our front steps. Both turned out beautiful! John and Seth are classic woodworkers, which is so difficult to find in this day and age. The craftsmanship of our deck, front and back stairs, posts and banisters are very impressive and exceeded expectations. The hard work, follow-through, and results speak for themselves, and were very price competitive. We are so happy to have found Bayer Builders and highly recommend them. We would easily and happily choose them again for our next home project.
