(December 24, 2018, 3:49 pm)The off-leash area is great to get exercise and exploring time with your dog. The forest preserve offers free poop bags and water so the membership fee is well worth it. The best thing to do is go online to register because you can't do so at this entrance where it is locked and members only have access.
There is an area that's open to the public but your dogs have to stay on leash and there isn't as many nice trails for dogs to walk through without getting really muddy. -

(August 2, 2018, 8:06 pm)This is a great dog park and they have bag dispensers inside the park in case you forgot to bring your own. The only issue is the lack of security, as many friends I know who visit the park as well have had break-ins on their vehicles in the parking lot here. Don't leave valueables in your car when you bring your dogs here.

(June 5, 2018, 3:45 pm)We haven't been to the other Cook County off-leash dog areas, but Beck Lake is great. The Cook County website says it's 40 acres. The area can be a little swampy if it has rained recently and is right next to the highway, but this is one of the only places we've found in Chicago where our dog, Logan, can really run free. There's a trail that goes all the way around the outside of the park and I would guess takes about 45 minutes to walk the whole thing (though I've never timed it). Be careful letting your dog enter the lake anywhere other than the sloped area right by the entrance; the lake is man-made and most of it is just an immediate drop-off into fairly deep water.
