“I was introduced to St. James the Less by my neighbors. The first thing I noticed was how friendly people are at this church! It has a cozy, small-town feel to it. I also like the architecture of the building, with its clean lines and white steeple. Before I came to St. James the Less, I had never set foot in an Episcopal church. The style of worship was a little more formal than I was accustomed to. However, I like the fact that they welcome everyone to participate in Communion. Another thing I appreciate is the quality of the music program. I would not have expected to find anything like this in a small church. In addition to the beautiful choral mass at the regular 10 am service, they have held special concerts featuring everything from classical performances to music of Broadway plays and Disney movies, which was very popular with the kids. In addition to music, the church is very active in the community. A few years ago, they started a community garden. The majority of the produce grown there is donated to the Northfield Township Food Pantry. They also have an ongoing ministry to the residents of The Grove, a nearby nursing home. Once a month, a group from St. James the Less prepares meals for A Just Harvest in Evanston. These programs have been well supported by members of the Parish.”
