  Grand Master Yu Martial Arts has taught me so much. It teaches discipline, respect, defense skills, and teaches the actual art of martial arts.

  My son and I have studied under GrandMaster Yu and his team of instructors for nearly a year. It has given us something to do together on Saturday’s and to spend focused time together at home. The skills, discipline, confidence, strength, and balance we are learning carry to other parts of our life. GrandMaster Yu and Master Wilson foster a diverse community of martial artists and people who care about making ourselves and each other better every day. I enjoy learning from the great team of instructors who are always so generous with their time and knowledge. I studied at another school when I was younger and can say that GrandMaster Yu is the most skilled Martial Artist I have ever witnessed and as a lifelong teacher he cares about each and every student who becomes part of the dojhang. I highly recommend adults and youth alike visit and observe a class.

  My husband and I have been taking classes with Grandmaster Yu for almost six months. We both have previously practiced martial arts individually and have tried many other schools. We have been really impressed with everything about the school. We signed up with the intention of coming twice a week and we find ourselves trying to come as much as possible. All the instructors are knowledgeable and patient. The curriculum is well thought out and there is great emphasis on discipline and respect. There are adult classes four times a week and they start late enough that we can easily make it after work. Grandmaster Yu is always there to help guide and encourage all his students. You really feel that he cares that you learn everything correctly and safely. I would highly recommend this school if you are a novice to martial arts or if you have done martial arts before and want to get back into it. This place is in it's own league as far as I'm concerned.

  When I brought my then five-year-old daughter to her first class, a fellow student she had never met before ran up to her, introduced herself, and then helped my daughter re-tie her belt so it was properly tied around her waist. Since that moment, I have been nothing but impressed with the sense of shared learning and supportive community fostered in Masters Yu and Wilson's dojang. My daughter has thrived along with so many other children and young adults I have met over the past three years, all owing to the insistence on a holistic sense of artistry, from reciting their creed (that has long become a benchmark of respectful behavior for my daughter) to writing short essays about their experiences at the dojang, to working on their forms and sparring techniques together with an instructor. Students not only learn from Masters Yu and Wilson, but also from junior instructors. Each student is attended to as an individual, with a particular set of needs and abilities, and both Masters Yu and Wilson know how to get the best out of all their charges.

  Master S.H. Yu Martial Arts is a great place to strengthen yourself physically and mentally. You learn the basic discipline, focus, and reflexive reaction. In addition to that, you are given the opportunity to force yourself to commit to achieving your goals. The instructors are very dedicated and motivating. However, they can only teach and encourage you to improve. You are in control of whether you do it or not. Martial arts provides a chance for you to choose to change and grow.
  
  When I first started, I absolutely hated it. It just wasn't me. Nevertheless, I eventually decided to try to actually learn. It taught me things I never would’ve thought I could do. I was learning control, respect, and perseverance from a beautiful, ancient art. I’m glad I was forced to join because now, I realize that martial arts does influence my life.
