Zen Life & Meditation Center Chicago

Wonderful community! I have taken a lot of great classes here. The retreats are very beneficial to my life. There are many events to enjoy and free meditation sits to go to. The people here have helped my practice grow and encourage me to be a better person. I've never met a teacher like Robert before. He is outstanding. June is also an amazing human being. This center is worth going to.

I signed up for the Primer classes on meditation after coming to Sunday meditation off and on for several months. After taking the first class, I decided to become a member. Robert is an excellent teacher, and presents the material in an understandable and accessible way. It is helpful that there are opportunities to try out some different methods during the class and practice sessions. There is no effort to proselytize anyone to Buddhism. The practice is offered for all, regardless of religious affiliation. I finished the last class yesterday, and have found what I've learned very helpful and practical.

I have been practicing Buddhism for about six years now about three years ago Sandy and I joined this center. Starting with the Primer classes , study groups, and visiting most Sunday morning Zen. The experience was great so we became advanced members. My interviews with Roshi has opened up new areas of my mind. Robert and June are so welcoming and kind. We just took the Primer class again and found it very helpful in relationships with ourselves and others.
If you get a chance please stop by on Sunday mornings meditation is at 9:00am and a talk following at10:00 you will meet nice people and hear very interesting talks on many subjects.

This is a wonderful place. I signed up last fall to take a 4-week meditation primer course.
From the moment I walked in I felt completely comfortable and welcome. Robert has a very simple and accessible style of teaching and much of what he has said resonates very deeply with me. I was immediately inspired to start meditating on my own and have found it much easier to stick with the practice now that I have some structure and guidance. The benefits of meditating regularly were noticeable right from the start and seem to increase with each passing week.
If you have been curious about meditation or have tried but not been able to sustain a regular practice, this is definitely a great place to check out.

This is a special place for meditation and Zen guidance - I was so glad to find it. The introductory primer series presents meditation concepts in a very compelling and accessible way. Robert and June are kind and wise people who truly practice their principles, and they've created a nice community of people. June also leads a traditional hula school, teaching dance and Hawaiian culture . . . lots of good things are happening in this place!
