Music Lessons with Jeff Johnson

  Before we started taking piano lessons with Jeff, we have taken lessons from a music school for a couple of years. At the music school, we had three teachers over the years. The teachers were nice but we were not progressing and have gotten into an old routine - my kids lost the excitement, going from one song to another in a book. We were going to either try something else or quit.
  
  We started with Jeff in August of 2018. The first time we came in, Jeff spent time asking about what type of music my kids were interested in (i.e., classical, jazz, pop, etc.), what we as a family wanted to focus on (i.e., composition, performance, improvisation). This was the first time we were asked such questions.
  
  It is important to note that my kids, Max & Emma, are at very different skill levels. Jeff is remarkable in how he steers each of their strengths, abilities, and personalities. He is been teaching my kids things that we have never been exposed to before but I always hoped for - jazz improvisation, composition, and digital music. He thinks out of the box and is on top of the current music trends and knowledge. He is extremely versatile. He plays multiple instruments & has well-rounded expertise.
  
  Lessons with him are 100% focused and fun. He is totally present and doesn’t waste time. He keeps things light and interesting.
  My entire family highly recommend Jeff. Especially - Max & Emma. ;-)

  I have decided to look for a tutor to help my 8th grader with his band practice after my son announced that he does not want to play music anymore and he wants to resign from band. I hoped that individual approach might help to change his mind. We are having those band lessons every week for the past 8 months now. Mr. Johnson managed not only to resurrect my son's interest in music, but also they improved his skills substantially. Now it is a pleasure to listen to my boy playing. He enjoys it, he is confident and even preparing to take part in band competition. I would like to thank Mr. Johnson for his great work.
