Pretty rare to find a church that has good worship leaders and excellent messages! The people are warm, welcoming and are willing to be real and understanding! Quite a gem!
Redemption Presbyterian Church (PCA) has been wonderful. Because we are a relatively new congregation, everyone wants to get to know people better and is comfortable extending hospitality to old-comers and new-comers. There are opportunities to grow spiritually outside of Sunday - home Bible studies and community fellowship groups. There is a healthy diversity of ages and backgrounds in which anyone can feel welcome.
Most important, the Gospel is preached and people grow in Christ.
A hopeful community of welcoming people. Spiritual practices such as prayer and conversation and Bible study and hospitality are integral to the community. Notable number of Spanish-speakers in this congregation. Thoughtful liturgy.
I started coming to this Church in 2015, as a place of compromise between my wife (at that time, girlfriend) and I, as she was brought up in a Christian tradition on the other end of the spectrum from that in which I was and was pursuing. It's turned out to be a really great place. The preaching is solid and seems to straddle a line between the spirit my wife (Orthodox Presbyterian) and I (Eastern Orthodox) look for in sermonizing. The people are warm and inviting, and (to finish the triad of trite things one can say about a church) the music is good--really good, actually. The worship leader is a talented / tasteful dude with whole cadre of talented people around him.
Those things aside, I think what strikes me about this particular community and why we have stayed is that it does feel like a place where the serious tensions between people of the two political camps that are dividing everything nowadays are being approached, respected and overcome by Christ. There's an actual mix of people holding pretty vastly different ideological, social and political perspectives sitting in the pews next to each other here, and that seems to hold the potential for a kind of healing that I personally don't find anywhere else in my day to day experience. (Whether the church realizes that potential in any substantial way remains to be seen, I suppose.)
So, if you're into healing the schisms of the Church, culture and society at large through the simplicity of a life lived faithfully in the Gospel, I can say as someone who has no particular affinity for the tropes of Protestant liturgy, that this church is a place where Christ is healing.
Very warm and welcoming church!
