“Very thorough and caring. I used to think all vets were similar until I had a sick cat. They knew what was wrong and were able to advise me well, and give genuine sympathy when we had to put her down. I travel farther just to come here...and the cats are not quiet in the car:/”

“I have a 12 year old pup that has been having seizures. My regular vet was booked up for the day, but told me they would fit me in for an up charge! That wasn't going to happen, so I called Countryside, explained my situation and they got me in within the hour. The vet was very thorough, took the time to explain everything and made both me and my pup very comfortable. The prices are also very reasonable. Thanks again for helping us out.”

“The staff and the doctor here were extremely nice and comforting when I had to bring my dog here to get euthanized. They let me say goodbye and did not rush me at all. The facility was very clean too. They were genuinely caring and loving. Thank you. Oliver, my Jack Russell thanks you too. ????”

“I have been taking my pets here for 16 years. Our pets are always treated like family and receive the best care. When we would board our dog we would make daily calls to check on him and they were always happy to update us and even tell him for us that we love him and miss him. When the time comes and we have to say goodbye to one of our beloved pets, they truly share our sadness and are very comforting. We even receive sympathy cards in the mail signed by the doctors and staff. I am very grateful to all the doctors and staff for all of the wonderful things they do.”

“Dr Cahill treated 2 of our dogs for arthritis with Lazer and accupunture. She truly cares about the animals and their human parents. She several times went out of her way the texting us with additional information and wrote a letter of recommendation to assist us in rescuing another dog on death row in north Carolina. I highly recommend her!”

“I’m new in the area and needed to get my dog seen for a lump growth. Even though they didn’t have many reviews online I took her here. I’m glad I did. They were so great with her. Her surgery ended up being more intense then we had all planned. He still only charged us what they quoted us. The surgery should have costed way more. He went above and beyond for her and charged us his original quote. He told us “her health was more important.” So he went and removed all of her lumps. He really cares about the animals well being above all.”

“Oak Forest Animal Hospital is a fantastic vet clinic. All of the doctors are knowledgeable and experienced. We needed a cardiac specialist after they identified our dog’s heart problem and they were able to get us into an specialist quickly and seamlessly, thereby saving our dog’s life! The staff is friendly and helpful, and they are considerate and compassionate when it comes to end of life care. I wouldn’t dream of taking our pets anywhere else, Oak Forest is the best!”

“I’m kind of surprised to read all the negative comments regarding this hospital. About a year or so ago I had to bring in my car, Gunther, because he was vomiting and couldn’t eat or drink. I was afraid that something was seriously wrong so I packed him into his carrier and brought him to Blue Pearl since it was a Sunday and everyone else was closed. Gunther was seen quickly and had multiple tests run, including an X-ray. The vet couldn’t pin-point exactly what was wrong but gave Gunther a shot to help reduce nausea and asked that I follow up with his primary vet. I ended up bringing him back the next morning as he was still having the same issue, but it turns out I gave him too much food and water and Gunther inhaled it too fast so it came right back up. They didn’t charge me for the second visit, which was extremely kind of them. His primary vet couldn’t figure out the issue either, as all his tests came back normal. Either way, Gunther is fine now and the issue hasn’t returned. I was very impressed with how we were treated at Blue Pearl, and I would absolutely return to them again if needed (but no offense I hope I don’t have to!). The price was a little high but that’s to be expected at an emergency vet. It’s the same as if you were going to go to the hospital to be treated vs your PCP - you always pay more. Anyway, thank you Blue Pearl for being there when you were needed. :)”

“After two months of unsuccessful treatment at a different clinic, my friends suggested that I see Dr. Shapiro. My 9 year old Persian cat suffered a horrible skin and ear infection. When I came, Dr. Shapiro and Nurse Natalia spent two hours determining the plan of treatment and started it immediately. During the treatment, Dr. Shapiro and Nurse Natalia always called to check up on her health and how treatment was going. After one and a half months of treatment, my cat was fully cured. I very thankful for their attentiveness and knowledge.”

“Since my last review there has been some changes to the staff. Crystal, Emmy, Jasmine, Jill, Kerry, Patty and Zara are a great team. Caring, friendly, helpful. This is a great practice, small enough to really get to know the staff, yethas the resources available to meet just about any need.”

“Dr. Whittle is the absolute best. He has taken excellent care of my pets since 1989, and I have never considered going elsewhere. He even helped me pick the best four-legged companion ever, after a very traumatic experience. I would very highly recommend him/his practice to everyone!”

“Village Veterinary in Western Springs is the best. They took care of our dog for annual check ups, and helped us when she got sick. They were flexible, compassionate and caring for our dog and our family. What a lovely gesture to receive sympathy flowers and a personal card when our dog passed away signed by everyone on the team. It really meant a lot at a difficult time. I highly recommend them.”

“Dr. Carlson has been treating my pets for well over 18 years. She and her staff are amazing and they go above and beyond at all times. I have a beagle puppy who six months ago was diagnosed with severe epilepsy. Late on a Friday evening the puppy fell into a cycle of seizures which I could not break with the medications I had at home. Dr. Carlson told me to bring him in immediately and worked with him to try to break the cycle; this went on for several hours until very late in the evening. When it became apparent to her that she personally did not have the tools to treat this very serious episode she contacted the emergency veterinarian hospital for us and faxed over all of the records for the puppy while we were in route to the emergency hospital. The emergency staff was waiting for us and immediately began diagnosis and treatment as soon as we walked in the door. The puppy ended up having to stay in the hospital for four days and Dr. Carlson kept in continuous touch with me and the neurologist treating my puppy. Her calls late at night or over the weekend to check in to see how the pet was doing are welcome and comforting. She truly cares about you and your pet. She is a community treasure and it doesn't surprise me that sometimes they need to put a cap on accepting new clients. It's all about the level of service she wants to provide.”
