(January 19, 2019, 1:54 am)I spend some time here after one of the snow falls. My idea was to take some pictures of the winter, snow on the trees, frozen water, etc. Fortunately the day that I went it was beautiful!! The snow was everywhere and I was able to get some good shots. The park itself is big and has different areas to explore. They were having sledding for families that day, so they have several activities here. During the summer you can enjoy camping or just a BBQ with friends. (January 10, 2019, 1:16 pm)Such wooded beauty in the middle of a big city suburb is rare. Blackwell is perfect for a refreshing touch of nature as you leisurely drive around the lake. Or pack a picnic lunch and stay a while. Great for family gatherings, group camping or a romantic boat ride across the lake for two.
Plus there's an archery range and fishing in the summer and Mount Trashmore for snow tubing in the winter. A complete delight. -

(January 3, 2019, 1:01 pm)Lived a few miles from there, 30 years ago. Cool spot, highest hill in DuPage county I recall. It is a converted landfill. The lake was a parade of catamaran in the mid eighties. Going in circles, it is not a big lake. Lake was closed as was the sledding hill in the '80s. Household chemicals leaching into the lake. Too much gasses coming off the landfill so it was not safe to sled on.
Prairie Path goes right by!
Looked at a house on Mack Road, across from the preserve. It was well water. Could not risk it.

(December 25, 2018, 2:27 am)I shoot my bow and arrow here often at their great outdoor range. It's open year round and is free. I believe the main range is 90 or 100 yards max, which is plenty! They also have a Juniors range that is fenced with safety fence and they also have a game range with wild game decoys set up. I have kayak fished the lake here too and caught a few bass.

(November 10, 2018, 9:51 am)I used to run here in the late 1980s. I took my son and dog to BW to go for a short hike. We all loved it! It must be 30 times larger than it was 30 years ago. It's beautiful. I love the way it has been developed.
