My great, great grandparents and great grandparents are buried here. This was called St Antony’s cemetery and later Pioneer Cemetary. The family name was Comerford and they were founding settlers in Minooka in 1860 when Illinois was still frontier. Many of my ancestors are buried here because the settlers from Ireland married each other. The Kinsella, Clennons, Brannicks, Mc Givelys, etc.

While the cemetery itself doesn't give much to look at or appear extremely scary, this is the one place that has lead me to believe there might just be things on the other side able to poke through into our plane of existence.

Probably close to 10 years ago me and four other friends pulled up to this place not too long after the sun had set. We were going to check it out and see if there was anything interesting there, just give a quick walk through. Before heading in, we stood at the bottom of the hill while a couple friends finished a cigarette. While waiting to go in chatting, a few times one of my friends advised the could see something at the top of the hill moving back and forth. We shrugged it off, and at most I might have figured it was a deer or something. Time came to go in and he said "stop, look up there, can't you all see it?" We all glanced up, 5 18-19 year old teens. We wouldn't want one another to think any of us as cowardice of course right? Well sure enough, as soon as I spotted what appeared to be a semi transparent black cloud start coming down the hill getting to the tree about 3/4's of the way up the hill he said in a hurried voice, "its coming down right now..." All five of us saw it. Without even saying anything else, not one of us hesitated to quickly hop back into the tiny car and high tale it out of there...

Fast forward 7 or 8 years later. I got into biking, and I had moved much closer to the area off route 6 and ridge road. I'd frequently ride down there just to enjoy the scenery. One night I decided to test out my light and cruise out at night. Just thinking about it covers my body in goosebumps and while I didn't see anything (I really just avoided looking at the cemetery all together), I still felt the hair on my neck stand up the entire time I rode past and decided I just couldn't ride down there at night afterwards.

I have been to bachelors grove, and many other notoriously creepy cemeteries, but nothing I have seen has ever been more concrete and convincing as what all five of us saw that one night. I failed to mention, if you're out there, listen carefully when the wind blows, and see if you can hear super faint whispers.
