Our family loves Pere Marquette. It’s such a special place. We really want dining at Pere Marquette to be a Christmas Eve tradition — but the ambiance in the dining room feels a bit harsh in the evenings at times. Some small tweaks would make all the difference in the world and level up the experience significantly. New linens in the dining room — especially for Christmas Eve/the holidays that aren’t that plasticky material, as well as dimmed lights/candles, and Christmas music would improve the ambiance and be low cost. Hoping some slight changes are made because the space is one of a kind!
Beautiful place. Scenery and atmosphere Food was wonderful. Great fried chicken. bottomless side dishes with berry cheesecake dessert. A craft fair was part of the fun this weekend too ! The drive up the River Road to get here was awesome!
Only 4 of 5 because I nearly never give anything 5 stars. Rooms were a good price. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the indoor pool! Our waiter in the evening was awesome. Very soft beds. The night lady at the front desk ,with the piercings was great! Very helpful! I wish their winery would have been open. However they were short staffed and I understand that! They even had a pack and play available for our toddler! Hope to stay there again soon!
The lodge and the location are fantastic. So quiet and peaceful throughout with beautiful buildings. We did a couple of miles of hiking and the trail was in great shape with excellent blazes.
I will note that we had no cell reception in all the parts of the property we visited, which was not necessarily a bad thing!
Did not enjoy the food at the restaurant - seems like it spent a lot of time under the warming lamp or else it just wasn’t prepared well. The pot roast was dry, the gravy gelatinous, the salmon had an odd glaze and the brussel sprouts…? It covered our needs but I wouldn’t do it again.
